Following the success of our first Virtual Residential last year, we are delighted to announce that the 3-day event will be returning next week!
Open to all young musicians supported by our Junior andDevelopment Programmes, the Virtual Residential will comprise a jam-packed schedule of workshops, classes and lectures. This year’s itinerary will be the most varied yet, combining fresh and exciting opportunities with some of last year’s best sessions, across several different musical styles and disciplines.
Once again, we are joined by our fantastic partners D'Addario, along with a host of other brilliant organisations including The Playmaker Group, PRS Power Up and Beat Goes On. We will also welcome John Ball from our partners SAA-uk who will be leading an Indian Classical workshop.
Now with two years of experience producing high-quality virtual events, we have gathered valuable feedback from our young musicians helping us continue to deliver the best possible experience.
Through virtual opportunities such as this, we have been able to increase accessibility no end, with greater flexibility for our young musicians. What’s more, by eliminating the need to travel, we have been able to recruit from a far wider line-up of incredible tutors, organizations and artists from all over the country.
This year’s Virtual Residential will again have a special emphasis on health and wellbeing. Guest workshop leaders Emma Alter and NaomiNorton will lead wellbeing sessions, including Feldenkrais, focussed on physical exercises to help prevent injuries and playing with pain for instrumentalists, while Emily Dickens will teach Performance Presentation andAnxiety, covering techniques for managing performance anxiety.
Other activities on offer will span from team building to production techniques, from graphic scores to body percussion sessions, and our own Relationship Manager and owner of Penny Fiddle Records Holly Harman will run a session on how to make an album. Participants will also be able to meet each other virtually and socialise one-to-one.
With such an exciting team of teachers, musicians and artists collaborating on this project, this year’s residential looks set to be a totally unique and memorable experience for all our young musicians; we cannot wait to deliver our best one yet!
