PROGRAMMES

Our programmes are designed to support young musicians at each stage of their musical journey, providing funding, expert support and opportunities to grow.

JUNIOR PROGRAMME

Ages 8–14, £500 funding per year

This programme is often the beginning of a young musician’s journey with Future Talent, fostering discovery, learning and early development.

We nurture potential and build confidence, creativity and musical identity through:

  • Financial support for lessons and equipment
  • Workshops across the UK
  • Opportunities to explore different styles and collaborate with others

Young musicians are encouraged to experiment with new approaches, from improvisation to creative composition, and begin building a lifelong relationship with music.

DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

Ages 12-16, £1,000 funding per year

A stage focused on growth, ambition and progression.

In addition to all elements of the Junior Programme, young musicians receive:

  • One-to-one mentoring from professional musicians
  • Masterclasses with leading artists
  • Ensemble projects and performance opportunities
  • Personalised guidance from Programme and Relationship Managers

This is where talent develops into confidence, leadership and resilience.

SENIOR PROGRAMME

Ages 16–18, £1,000 funding per year

Preparing young musicians for their next step.

In addition to all elements of the Junior and Development Programmes, participants access:

  • Advanced performance and development opportunities
  • The Senior Skills Series, connecting them with industry experts
  • Guidance on conservatoire auditions, further study and careers in music

This stage helps young musicians move forward with clarity and confidence, and acts as a pathway into our Alumni network.

ALUMNI NETWORK

At Future Talent, being part of our community doesn’t end when a young musician leaves their programme. Our alumni continue to play an active role in shaping the future of Future Talent while developing valuable skills and experience for their own careers.

Through our Alumni Network, former participants help ensure that young people’s voices remain at the heart of everything we do. Alumni contribute to committees, share feedback on programmes and strategy, volunteer at events, and support the next generation who are following in their footsteps.

Our alumni have:

  • Contributed to Future Talent committees, including our Marketing and Finance Committee, helping to shape major projects such as our new branding and logo.
  • Rejoined us as performers at concerts and events.
  • Volunteered at workshops and auditions, supporting younger musicians at key stages of their journey.
  • Shared ideas and experiences through our Youth Voice Committee, helping us improve and develop our programmes.

The impact of this feedback is real. When our Alumni told us they wanted more opportunities closer to home, we listened. As a result, we’re expanding our geographical reach through local partnerships and introducing a travel bursary to help musicians from remote locations access more opportunities without the financial burden of travel costs.

Alumni involvement offers the chance to gain real-world experience, understand how a charity operates behind the scenes, develop leadership and communication skills, and make a meaningful contribution to an organisation they care about. It gives them an opportunity to have their voices heard and create genuine change for young musicians the charity supports.
