Daisy Stones
Daisy was the first individual musician to gain sponsorship from Future Talent, and is now sponsored by the Studs Trust in a bursary scheme through Future Talent.
She plays violin (currenly grade 8), piano (grade 6/7), viola and clarinet (her "just for fun" instrument, as she is not receiving lessons). She has also recently passed her grade 5 singing exam, although she no longer has time for singing lessons at the moment, either!
Daisy regularly updates Future Talent with all her activities and snippets of her busy life. Here is just some of what she's been doing:
Daisy has recently attended Pro Corda, the National School for Young Chamber Music, where she was a member of a specially formed quartet. The quartet recorded the Britten Quartet in G in Britten's house! The ages of the players reflected the age Britten was when he wrote the quartet, and the recording will be played at a special exhibition in the house this summer.
In 2009 she will go abroad for the first time, touring Poland in the 1st violin section of the Lincolnshire Youth Symphony Orchestra.
Daisy joined the English Schools Orchestra last year and has been asked back again this year. She also plays in the County Chamber Orchestra and the County Symphony Orchestra.
Above all, though, Daisy loves school. She is now in year 8 at Lincoln Minster School, and relishes the chance to do some kind of music every day, as well as excelling in her other subjects.
"It's amazing how time flies when you're having the time of your life!"
