Tim Bailey
Tim, currently 17, has been playing the viola for nearly 7 years and the violin for the 4 years previous to that. He is currently principal viola of the Hallé Youth Orchestra and the Bolton Youth Orchestra, and is also a member of the Junior RNCM chamber orchestra, two small chamber groups and the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. As of this year, he receives his musical tuition at the Junior RNCM, and previous to this tim was taught exclusively by his local Bolton Music Service. Tim currently has a Great 8 Distinction in viola, as well as a Distinction at ATCL Recital Diploma for viola.
Currently completing his final year of 6th form at Canon Slade School in Bolton, Tim hopes next year to take a gap year in which to further prepare for entrance to conservatoire. Ultimately, he hopes to become a professional viola player, with his focus on chamber and orchestral playing rather than solo.
Tim won the Gold Award for the Bolton area in 2009, an acheivement which has not only brought great benefits both financial and in terms of opportunity, but has also convinced him that a successful career in music is indeed within his grasp. He aspires one day to play on stage with a world-famous orchestra or ensemble.
