Robert (saxophone)

Robert lives in Cambridgeshire, where his parents are farmers.  He started playing the recorder aged five, then piano and moved onto the saxophone aged 9.  He has now achieved ABRSM Grade 8 distinction in all three instruments.  Rob spends all of his free time doing art or music.

In 2012 Rob joined Junior Guildhall where he is taught classical saxophone by Paul Stevens.  In May, Rob took part in Junior Guildhall’s prestigious competition, the ‘Lutine Prize’ and came 2nd.  Since 2014 Rob has been a member of the National Youth Wind Orchestra of Great Britain.  He enjoys performing in competitions and, in 2016, won both the Wellingborough Young Musician of the Year and Oundle Young Musician of the Year as well as becoming a National Finalist in the Rotary Young Musician of the Year.  Most recently, Rob has performed a concerto with the Huntingdon Philharmonic.

After completing his A Levels in Music, Music Technology and Art at Hinchingbrooke School, Rob hopes to study music at a conservatoire as he would like to be a professional musician when he is older.
