Guy Johnston

Born in 1981, Guy Johnston began cello lessons at the age of 5 and has become a fast-rising star on the international concert stage.

Since his extraordinary debut in London at the BBC proms, where he played the Elgar cello concerto with the BBC Symphony Orchestra under Leonard Slatkin, he has enjoyed much success with international orchestras and conductors in the UK and Europe.  He also regularly tours to Japan.

Guy is a committed chamber musician, performing recitals in the Wigmore Hall, the Louvre and at festivals all over the UK and Europe.  He is a founder member of the Aronowitz Ensemble, who have recently been invited onto the prestigious BBC New Generation Artists Series.

The Aronowitz Ensemble performed at the launch concert for Future Talent in 2004:

"It was an absolute joy to see the children from East Hull enjoying the concert in Cambridge, many of whom had never experienced classical music before. It was a real eye-opener to see them realise the power that music gives you to express yourself.

As a musician, I came away feeling refreshed and knowing that these children would have the chance to pursue their musical dreams, thanks to Future Talent."
