Samuel Davies (cornet)

Samuel comes from Bolton and is a member of the Bolton Music Centre Youth Brass Band, Canon Slade School Stage Band, and Astley and Wigan Youth Brass Bands. Funding from Future Talent has enabled Samuel to purchase his own cornet, which replaced the instrument he was borrowing from Bolton Music Service. Owning his own instrument has greatly increased Samuel’s confidence when playing in front of others and when deciding which model to buy, Samuel tried our several instruments so as to ensure that the one he settled on was just right.

Samuel recently successfully auditioned for the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain and he is also currently preparing for his Grade 8. After completing his GCSE and A-Level exams, Samuel plans to study music at university, after which he hopes to play in a top adult band. He also wishes to develop his playing technique so that he has a “distinctive, memorable and natural sound”.
