Samantha Wright (clarinet)

Samantha is from Oldham and plays the clarinet, alto saxophone, flute and a variety of early music instruments such as crumhorn, renaissance flute and many recorders. She has been a member of Oldham Music Centre since 2005 and has been involved with 12 of their groups – the elementary wind band, training wind band, clarinet ensemble, youth wind band, intermediate wind band, intermediate orchestra, intermediate wind ensemble, youth wind ensemble, youth orchestra, contemporary music group and swing band.

At school, Samantha plays in the swing band, senior wind band and the orchestra. She also recently took GCSE music and gained an A*. In her spare time, Samantha teaches clarinet, flute and recorder to young children free of charge at her church. She is also involved in two other bands (playing mainly 1940s music), and has raised a substantial amount of money for local charities.

Samantha aims to attend the Junior department at the Royal Northern College of Music, which she plans to fund with money she has received from Future Talent. She then plans to continue onto the Royal Northern College of Music and from there take up a professional career in music
