Helena Buckie (violin)
Helena began playing the violin aged three and ever since then, music has been Helena’s passion and given her the greatest enjoyment. Her first ever concert was in West Road, Cambridge at the age of three. Here she demonstrated to a packed auditorium how she could handle her bow with a hula hoop balanced on the end and at the age of five, whilst on a residential course, playing for hours a day, Helena told her mother
“this is paradise!”
When she was ten, Helena joined the National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain, where she was a member for five years. After this she moved to the National Youth Orchestra and was in her second year when she secured a bursary from Future Talent to support her membership as a Principal player.
Helena also studied at the Junior Guildhall School of Music and Drama leading the Junior Guildhall String Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra and Piano Quintet. In 2010 Helena began studies at the Royal College of Music.
