Emma Rae Ward (soprano)

Emma is from Nottinghamshire and Future Talent awarded her funding in 2009 to increase her weekly singing lessons from 30 minutes to an hour. Emma also plays the flute and piano but singing continues to be her real passion.

Since Future Talent has supported Emma, she has made great progress. The additional time in her singing lessons has enabled her to extend her repertoire, improve her posture, breathing, sight-reading and aural skills. She has travelled to Prague on a school music tour where she performed in seven concerts over the course of five days and she recently took part in Selston Music Festival. Emma is also a member of The Cantamus Girls Choir who travelled to Germany in 2011 where they won two gold medals in the Europe Choir Competition. Currently studying for her GCSEs, Emma hopes to go to the Royal College of Music when she is older.

“Emma has grown in self-confidence and her love for classical music is not an embarrassment to her anymore. She is becoming more comfortable with who she is and more importantly who she wants to be.” (Mrs Ward)

“Future Talent has helped me realise that I definitely want to go into music, singing especially. It has helped me to believe in myself enough to aim high and sing opera.” (Emma Rae Ward)
