Alex Wilson (piano)

Alex began playing the piano at the age of five and took lessons with a local piano teacher. At eight years old he won the under 11 East Lindsey Young Musician of the Year. Following this, he auditioned for the Junior RNCM, where he has been studying Pianoforte with Sally Ann Macleod and Jazz Piano with Eileen Guppy since 2007.

He is a pianist with the Junior RNCM Jazz Ensemble and performs regularly with the band.  He has also performed on many occasions as a soloist, part of a piano duo and as a member of a jazz trio. Alex has performed at several Future Talent events including the 2010 gala evening at Wimbledon , a showcase concert at Ampleforth College, the Ryedale Festival and more recently at Downing Street.

In the Autumn term 2009, the ABRSM awarded Alex, age 11, the Sheila Mossman prize for achieving the highest marks in the country for grade 7 piano. Following this, in 2010 he was awarded the East Lindsey Performing Arts Award and also the East Lindsey Young Peoples Performing Arts Award. Additionally in 2011 he was the recipient of the Junior RNCM Ian Macpherson prize.  Later that year, Alex also passed his grade 8 piano with distinction.

Alex is committed to reaching his musical potential and he is delighted to have been awarded the Liz and Terry Bramall Scholarship which has enabled him to pursue his musical ambitions by contributing towards his Junior RNCM fees.
