Future Talent Musicians shine at the RNCM
On Saturday 30 April, some of the Future Talent Musicians performed alongside professional artists at a fundraising concert at the Royal Northern College of Music. Arranged and compered by Future Talent Alumnus and Ambassador Ben Conway, the evening was a mix of musical styles and provided a great performance opportunity for seven of our young musicians. Sebastian and Charles had solo spots, whilst Georgina sang a special arrangement of Summertime from Porgy and Bess with the full orchestra.
Ezo, Willard, Eden and Future Talent Alumnus Roman were joined by Emily-Grace Clifton (RNCM) to perform String Quintet in D Major, Allegro Vivo by Luigi Boccherini, a piece they first practiced together the day before.
Professional guest performers included: Martin James Bartlett, Le Yu, Project Jam Sandwich, Elinor Nicholson and the RNCM Alumni Orchestra, conducted by Christopher Clark. Future Talent would like to thank Ben and the RNCM for making this concert possible. All proceeds from the evening will go to Future Talent.
“Having the chance to work with students and professionals from the College was a fantastic opportunity for Future Talent Musicians. I rehearsed the quintet for the first time on the Friday, and then they rehearsed with the full orchestra on the Saturday ahead of the concert. All of the musicians were treated as professionals, with our soloists working to short and precise rehearsal schedules in the wonderful Concert Hall at the RNCM. Ben, a current student at the RNCM, created a very exciting and mixed programme of performers from many different genres. This was a truly inspiring opportunity for our musicians, and will have given them a real taste of what it is like to be a professional, independent performer.”
